The new UCHealth primary care clinic in Fountain is now open, bringing a fresh wave of healthcare options to the community. On its opening day, the smell of freshly painted walls filled the air as visitors explored the facility, which includes exam rooms and an X-ray center.
Mayor Sharon Thompson highlighted the significance of this clinic for the local community. After two years of planning, the clinic is set to serve around 14,000 patients each year, offering essential healthcare right where it’s needed. “This means accessibility,” Thompson expressed, pointing out that many residents previously had to travel long distances for care. For families, it means less time spent in transit, helping them get the medical attention they need quickly.
The new clinic can treat various health issues, from allergies and colds to chronic conditions like diabetes. Alongside primary care, patients can access dental services and laboratory testing. It’s designed to provide comprehensive care, including routine checkups and support for behavioral health needs.
Staffed by a team of five medical providers, the clinic is already welcoming new patients. The first provider, a certified physician assistant named Hollie Reda, is on-site, with more providers expected to join soon. This expansion is crucial for Fountain, where healthcare options have been limited compared to nearby Colorado Springs.
Currently, Fountain has limited medical resources. UCHealth operates a freestanding emergency room there, and Peak Vista Community Health Centers provide various services for underserved populations. However, other clinics in the area have recently closed or reduced services, amplifying the need for this new facility.
Thompson hopes that this clinic will encourage more healthcare facilities to open in the area, addressing the ongoing gap in medical services. “We need specialists to come back,” she stressed, noting that community members may delay necessary treatment without convenient options available to them.
The UCHealth Primary Care — Fountain clinic, located at 6161 Timber Rail Point, Suite 100, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., closing on weekends. This new addition is a step toward healthier living for Fountain residents.
