Discover Enhanced Women’s Health Services in Berkeley: Your Comprehensive Guide to Vitals

Sutter East Bay Medical Group is enhancing women’s health services in Berkeley with the recent completion of Phase II at the Adeline Care Center. This facility, located at the Ed Roberts Campus, has been operational since May 2022 and has just expanded its offerings.

The new phase includes 13 additional exam rooms, increasing the total to 33. Staffing has also grown from nine to 14 providers, along with two laboratory technicians. The expansion adds over 5,500 square feet of clinical space, making it easier for women to access the care they need.

Conveniently situated above the Ashby BART station at 3075 Adeline Street, the center offers free parking and is designed with bright lighting and ADA-accessible features to ensure comfort for all patients.

Opened in 2011, the Ed Roberts Campus serves as a hub for the Independent Living Movement, emphasizing support for disability-focused organizations in the East Bay community.

Dr. Isabelle Cohen, an OB-GYN at Sutter, expressed that the expanded clinic capacity will help streamline care. “This means less waiting time between evaluations and treatments,” she noted. The facility now has a third MyoSure tower, enabling on-site hysteroscopies and tissue removal procedures. Patients can expect these procedures to take about one hour, significantly faster than the six to eight hours typically needed in a hospital.

Karen Magana Vargas, a clinical operations supervisor, mentioned that the growth of the center means increased capacity to serve patients without depending on hospitals. The Adeline Care Center offers specialized clinics in areas such as reproductive health, menopause, and cancer survivorship. It also includes a dedicated space for lactation consulting to support new mothers.

Kirsten Hutchinson, Area II manager for Sutter, highlighted the importance of an environment that supports patients throughout their health journeys. The layout of the center helps improve flow and creates a welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.

The team continues to expand, with new certified nurse midwives and obstetricians joining, allowing for even more specialized care. Anticipation is building for additional clinicians expected to join later this year and in early 2027.

In a time when access to healthcare is crucial, facilities like the Adeline Care Center play a vital role in meeting the needs of the community. The initiative reflects a broader trend toward improving women’s health services, which is essential in today’s healthcare landscape.
