Discover Essential Resources: Laredo College Hosts Health Fairs for New and Expecting Parents

Laredo College is teaming up with Laredo Public Health to hold two health and resource fairs for new and expecting parents. These events aim to provide essential support for those juggling work, school, and family responsibilities.

Sylvia Trevino, a health and wellness case manager at Laredo College, says the fairs will feature over 23 agencies in one spot. This makes it easier for parents to find services for themselves and their children. “This is for parents who are going to college and working while raising their little ones,” Trevino explains.

Christina Duarte, from Laredo Public Health, emphasizes the importance of maternal health. “A healthy baby starts with a healthy mom,” she says. The fairs will offer resources throughout pregnancy and beyond.

The first fair will be on Wednesday, August 27, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Fort McIntosh Kazen Student Center. The second fair takes place Wednesday, September 3, at the South Campus Billy Hall Building at the same time. While these events are hosted at Laredo College, they are open to everyone in the community.

The fairs will connect parents with hospitals, health centers, and other organizations covering everything from prenatal care to child wellness. This is a valuable opportunity for parents to gather vital information and support.
