Tulane Hospitality is bringing some exciting new dining options to campus through its partnership with Aramark Collegiate Hospitality.
Nony is the first of these fresh spots. Located in the LBC, it serves quick deli-style sandwiches at affordable prices, between ten and twelve dollars. You can pick a classic sandwich or even create your own. They also have personal-sized pizzas, including the unique Green Wave pizza, which features pesto, chicken, mozzarella, and tomatoes, a nod to the Tulane mascot. This place is perfect for students on the go who want a tasty, quick bite.
Shake Smart opened its doors in Lake and River Residence Halls recently. This eatery is all about health, offering smoothies, shakes, and acai bowls made with skim milk and fresh ingredients. You can order through tablets at the entrance and enjoy your meal at the bar seating with a lovely view of McAlister Place. While the healthy options are great, some might find the taste of protein powder a bit too strong for their liking.
If you’re looking for a post-workout treat, this is a solid choice.
Beauxba replaced PJ’s Coffee in the Howard-Tilton Memorial Library. As a fan of bubble tea, I was eager to try it. Unfortunately, the tapioca boba was overcooked, giving it a mushy texture. The drinks on the menu, like Mellow Mango and Vietnamese iced coffee, didn’t impress me much. The Mellow Mango separated quickly and had a strange consistency, while the iced coffee tasted like regular coffee, missing the typical strong and sweet flavors. However, the Mango Crush was enjoyable, blending sweetness with a hint of salt from the cheese foam.
Twisted Taco is another exciting addition, opening its doors at the start of the spring semester. Open until 2 a.m., it’s perfect for late-night cravings. This spot took over from Le Gourmet and offers a variety of Tex-Mex dishes, including tacos, burritos, and nachos. The portions are generous for the price, and while the regular beef and chicken options were just okay, the Boom Boom Chicken was surprisingly flavorful. The tacos, however, felt a bit overpriced, and the basic offerings lacked extra toppings unless you pay more. Despite this, Twisted Taco is set to become a favorite spot for many hungry students.
