Exciting news for students! The Centennial Student Union is introducing new food options this semester.
Students can enjoy three rotating food choices in the CSU Food Court. First up is BBQ Nation, featuring BBQ styles from different regions like the Carolinas, Kansas City, Memphis, Santa Maria, and Texas. This option will be available from January 13 to February 21.
Next, from February 24 to March 28, students can dig into a variety of ramen bowls. This rotation includes six signature dishes that are sure to please ramen lovers.
Finally, the semester will wrap up with Spuds, a potato bar loaded with toppings inspired by Korean, Mexican, Indian, and Southern U.S. cuisines.
CSU Executive Chef Timothy Born worked diligently to create these new options. He explained, “These concepts were chosen based on what students enjoy. BBQ Nation is our first theme where we change the proteins, sides, and sauces weekly, making it fresh and interesting.” All BBQ Nation offerings are made in-house, thanks to collaboration with the University Dining Center.
Chef Born noted that students have responded positively to these changes. Peking Plate, the previous tenant of the food court space, had been there for about three years. The decision to replace it stemmed from listening to student feedback.
“Students like variety, so we aimed for a rotating menu,” Born said. He mentioned that Garbanzo’s is popular at Mav Ave, and customer participation at BBQ Nation has been strong as well.
Looking ahead, Chef Born’s team plans more exciting changes this semester. “Both Ramen and Spuds will run for six weeks until the school year ends,” he shared. “Next year, we aim to introduce six different concepts, three in the fall and three in the spring.”
There’s a lot to look forward to in the CSU Food Court this semester!
