Every year, college students face many challenges. They have to manage tough classes, find jobs, and juggle their social lives. Amidst all this, it can be hard to focus on health. But taking care of our physical, mental, and social well-being is crucial. This semester, Ohio State is hosting several events to help students prioritize their health.

Here are some highlights:

March 28 – “Lunch & Learn: The Benefits of Breakfast” (Virtual)
Join a free webinar from noon to 1 p.m. This session will cover how a healthy breakfast can boost your mood and energy for the day. There will be insights from the Office of the Chief Wellness Officer and a dietitian from the Wexner Medical Center, Stacy Cleveland. April 9 – “Garden Kickoff: Spring Planting” (1600 E. Long St.)
From 6-8 p.m., learn about spring vegetables and get hands-on experience with gardening. This event is part of a monthly series led by Timothy McDermott from Ohio State. It’s free, but registration is needed due to space limits. Find Out More.

April 10 – “Out Of The Darkness Campus Walk” (Various Campuses)
From 6-8 p.m., this walk addresses the impact of suicide and mental health on the community. It brings together students to raise awareness and support each other. It will start from the Tom W. Davis Gym at the RPAC and go to the Oval. Details Here.

April 15 – “Embracing Lifestyle Medicine For A Healthier Community” (Virtual)
In this 30-minute session from noon, learn how small changes can prevent and manage chronic diseases. It will cover nutrition, stress management, and sleep. This event helps deepen your understanding of how lifestyle choices can impact health. Learn More.

April 16 – “Spring Into Health” (Virtual)
At noon, this webinar will share tips on enhancing your physical and mental well-being. Megan Amaya, an expert in health and wellness, will guide you on practical strategies. Register Here.

April 29 – “2025 State of Health and Wellness Address in Buckeye Nation” (Virtual)
Scheduled for 1:30-3 p.m., this address will share updates on wellness initiatives at Ohio State. It will include guest speakers from the university and highlight important programming efforts. More Info.

Events like these are essential. They not only promote well-being but also help build a supportive community. Health and wellness expert Dr. Laura C. H. Yoakam highlights, “Engaging in wellness activities cultivates resilience. They provide students with tools to tackle their academic challenges and personal lives more effectively.”
