Discover Fresh Food Access: Join EPCC’s Mobile Food Pantries at Campus Locations Through April!

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) — El Paso Community College (EPCC) is teaming up again with El Pasoans Fighting Hunger. They’re launching mobile food pantries at various campuses until the end of April.

This mobile pantry, once known as grocery pickup, will offer free groceries to students and local residents. The pantries will be open on select dates from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while supplies last.

According to EPCC, this initiative aims to tackle food insecurity—an issue affecting many students and families in the community. In fact, recent studies show that about 30% of college students nationwide experience food insecurity at some point. EPCC is responding to that pressing need.

The pantries will be available at the Valle Verde, Transmountain, Rio Grande, and Mission del Paso campuses. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bags to carry the groceries.

Here’s the schedule:

  • **Valle Verde campus:** Feb. 11, March 11, and April 8 in Parking Lot L
  • **Transmountain campus:** Feb. 18 and April 15 in Parking Lot B
  • **Rio Grande campus:** Feb. 25, March 25, and April 22 in Parking Lot D
  • **Mission del Paso campus:** March 4 and April 1 at the Horseshoe area

EPCC’s Student Government Association and Campus Life are helping organize these events, showing strong community support.

Food insecurity is a growing concern not just in El Paso, but across the U.S. Many colleges are starting similar programs as awareness grows. It’s encouraging to see organizations like EPCC stepping in to help those in need.
