The Berkeley County Library System (BCLS) is excited to launch a new series of interactive cooking classes called “Flavors of the World.” Chef Rebecca Antill, who runs Book/Plates Food Education and teaches at the Culinary Institute of Charleston, will lead the classes.
In March, Chef Antill will host two sessions that invite people of all ages to dive into the world of cooking and discover new flavors. The first class, “Kids in the Kitchen,” is aimed at children ages 3 and up and their parents. It will take place at the Goose Creek Library on March 5 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The second class, open to everyone, will be held on March 8 at the Moncks Corner Library from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
These classes offer a fantastic chance for participants to learn basic cooking skills while mingling with other food lovers in the community. “Kids in the Kitchen” introduces young chefs and their families to simple kitchen tasks, using easy ingredients. Each class features a new recipe to keep things fun and engaging.
The “Flavors of the World” session will focus on exploring spice combinations from various cultures while making a simple dish. Chef Antill expressed her excitement about the program, noting the growing interest among families who want to learn how to prepare meals with fresh ingredients at home. “I love seeing families gain skills that help them cook and save money,” she said.
To participate in these classes, registration is needed. You can sign up online at berkeleylibrarysc.libcal.com and choose the event that fits your preferred library branch.
