Haley F. Oliver

Haley F. Oliver, Ph.D. leads the Feed the Future Food Safety Innovation Lab at Purdue University, where she also serves as Vice Provost for Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars. She holds dual degrees in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the University of Wyoming and a Ph.D. in Food Science from Cornell University. Dr. Oliver has been at Purdue since 2010 after completing her postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell.

Her work focuses on harmful pathogens in food, like Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella. She strives to find ways to prevent cross-contamination in food handling and has created effective strategies for food safety. Under her direction, the Feed the Future Food Safety Innovation Lab has been working to improve food safety practices in several countries, including Bangladesh and Kenya.

Dr. Oliver has earned many awards, such as the USDA’s Food and Agriculture Science Excellence in Teaching Award and the International Association for Food Protection’s Larry Beuchat Young Researcher Award. She is also committed to supporting the thousands of students seeking to advance their education at Purdue.
