Lieutenant General KS Brar recently visited the Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre (MLIRC) in Belagavi. His visit aimed to assess the readiness and training of the regiment. He noted significant improvements, especially in the Agniveer training program.
During the visit, he watched training sessions and praised the commitment to high standards. He stressed the need for modern technology in training. Adapting to new battlefield conditions is crucial for our soldiers.
Accompanied by Brigadier Joydip Mukherjee, the General visited various army units. He also met with veterans at the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS) Polyclinic, highlighting the army’s continued support for their welfare.
Additionally, he toured the Army Public School at MLIRC, recognizing students who excelled in sports. His encouragement for these young athletes was evident as he celebrated their achievements.
A significant part of his visit was the inauguration of a new outpatient department at the Military Hospital, which will improve medical facilities for current personnel, veterans, and their families.
In today’s military, the integration of technology and support for veterans are more important than ever. A recent survey from the Ministry of Defence indicates that over 80% of veterans feel more connected to their community thanks to initiatives like the ECHS. This reflects a growing trend of prioritizing veterans’ welfare in the army’s agenda.
General Brar’s visit is a reminder of the army’s commitment not just to training soldiers, but to ensuring their well-being and readiness for future challenges.
