Hilton is expanding its presence in the UK and Ireland by introducing two new hotels in Plymouth, England, and Cork, Ireland. These additions to the Tapestry Collection aim to meet the rising demand for unique, culturally rich lodging options.
The Tapestry Collection focuses on providing guests with experiences that resonate with the local culture. With these new hotels, Hilton now operates four Tapestry properties in the region, including existing locations in Dover, York, Portrush, and St. Albans. Each hotel is crafted to reflect the character of its locale, offering travelers a chance to delve into local history and culture.
The New Continental Hotel in Plymouth, one of the city’s oldest hotels, is undergoing a major renovation. Established in 1865, the hotel will boast 120 newly designed rooms, updated meeting spaces, a fitness center, and a new restaurant and bar. Set to open in spring 2027, this hotel is perfectly situated for exploring Plymouth’s vibrant attractions, like Plymouth Hoe.
In Cork, a new Tapestry Hotel is slated to open in autumn 2027, featuring 103 chic guestrooms. This property will cater to both business and leisure travelers, thanks to its convenient location near the city’s cultural hubs and business areas.
According to recent statistics, the number of tourists visiting Ireland has been steadily increasing, with a notable 5.8% rise in visits from overseas in 2022. This trend shows the growing appeal of locations like Cork, making it a smart choice for Hilton’s expansion.
Adding to the excitement, Sonia Kajani, a director at JMK Group, expressed optimism about the Cork hotel’s potential to thrive in a city known for its lively culture and culinary scene. Meanwhile, Al Malik, managing director of Elevate Hotels, emphasized the historical charm of the New Continental, which will blend modern comforts with its storied past.
Hilton’s efforts also support local economies by creating around 100 new jobs across both hotels. These roles will span various departments, enhancing the hospitality scene and benefiting the community. As cities increasingly look to boost tourism, these new hotels will likely play a crucial role in their economic development.
This expansion aligns with Hilton’s vision to enhance guest experiences worldwide. By reflecting the unique identities of their locations, Tapestry Collection hotels aim to provide immersive stays that go beyond traditional lodging. As travelers seek more meaningful experiences, Hilton is poised to become a leading choice for those looking to connect with the places they visit.
The future looks bright for Hilton’s lifestyle hotel offerings, with Plymouth and Cork setting the stage for a richer travel experience that highlights local culture and charm.
