Discover Hope: Limestone University’s Inspiring Prayer Walk Emphasizes Faith and Miracles Amid Uncertainty

GREENWOOD, S.C. – On a recent Friday night, the community at Limestone University gathered for a heartfelt prayer vigil. Students, faculty, and staff came together to support each other during a challenging time. The aim was to create a safe space where they could openly express their feelings and unite in hope.

Iman Bolden, the campus minister, emphasized the importance of prayer in difficult moments. “The most important thing we can do right now is pray,” he said as he led the group in prayer and a reflective walk around campus.

For many, Limestone is more than just a school; it’s a home. Carolyn Ford, an art professor, shared the deep connections within the university. “It’s family. It’s not just a job,” she explained. This sense of community is particularly vital now, as uncertainty looms over the university’s future.

Emily Tuttle, an assistant art professor, pointed out the struggles students face, especially those graduating or considering a transfer. “They’ve lost their mentors and are starting over,” she noted.

The anxiety surrounding the future is palpable among students. Freshman Karis Fuqua expressed disbelief about the situation, saying, “It doesn’t even feel real at this point.” Other students share similar fears, particularly those from abroad. Freshman Jazel Deoliveira, from Brazil, voiced uncertainty about whether he would have to return home or find a way to stay.

Natalie Maymon, a soccer player from Israel, highlighted that many students have already started transferring to different institutions, stating, “I think certain schools will take advantage of the fact that we don’t have much of a choice.”

Given these challenges, teachers are stepping up to assist. They are working with students to prepare resumes and plans, just in case they can’t return. Still, through it all, the message of hope remains powerful. “We believe in prayer, and we believe that God can do miracles,” Bolden reminded everyone.

Recent reports indicate that approximately 30% of college students nationwide are considering transferring due to uncertainty surrounding their institutions. This situation isn’t unique to Limestone; many universities face similar challenges in today’s complex financial landscape.
