Mumbai, February 22: Bharat Tex 2025, the largest textile event in India, wrapped up successfully, marking a significant moment for the textile and apparel industry.
Highlighting MMF & Technical Textiles
Shri Bhadresh Dodhia, Chairman of MATEXIL, pointed out that Bharat Tex 2025 was a fantastic platform for promoting Man-Made Fibres (MMF) and Technical Textiles. Approximately 250 companies showcased their innovations, and 370 foreign buyers attended, all thanks to MATEXIL’s efforts.
Prime Minister’s Insights
During his visit on February 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi learned about the advancements in the MMF sector. Shri Dodhia shared India’s strengths in cotton while noting the country’s swift progress in manmade fibres. He showcased a garment made from recycled plastic bottles, emphasizing sustainability in line with the Prime Minister’s ocean cleaning vision.
Support for MSMEs
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in textiles. He encouraged banks to increase credit availability for these businesses. Shri Dodhia mentioned that the new National Manufacturing Mission will significantly benefit MSMEs, which account for 80% of textile production.
Emphasis on Sustainability
The Prime Minister called on the youth to innovate in sustainability and technology. Shri Dodhia noted that the technical textiles market in India has grown to around $22 billion. MATEXIL is actively working on boosting exports and collaborating with manufacturers to strengthen this sector.
Addressing Environmental Concerns
The Prime Minister raised concerns about the environmental impact of fast fashion, urging the industry to focus on recycling and upcycling. Shri Dodhia expressed optimism about attracting investments in textile recycling as awareness of sustainability grows.

Shri Dodhia believes the end of Bharat Tex 2025 marks the start of a new chapter for Indian textiles. The industry is poised to leverage the insights and momentum from this event to emerge as a global leader in textiles and clothing.
