IHG Hotels & Resorts has teamed up with Salter Brothers to shake things up in the Australian hotel scene. This partnership is set to enhance IHG’s presence in the luxury and lifestyle market by reimagining several well-known properties across the country.

With plans to upgrade iconic hotels in cities like Melbourne, Sydney, and Canberra, this move aims to elevate hospitality standards. Brands like Regent, InterContinental, and Hotel Indigo will be at the forefront of this transformation. Notably, the Regent brand is making a comeback in Australia after almost 30 years. By 2030, the InterContinental Melbourne will become Regent Melbourne, marking an exciting return for luxury travelers.

Three existing Crowne Plaza hotels will also transition to InterContinental, including:

  • Crowne Plaza Sydney Coogee Beach will become InterContinental Sydney Coogee Beach.
  • Crowne Plaza Melbourne will be rebranded to InterContinental Melbourne.
  • Crowne Plaza Canberra will undergo a complete redevelopment to become InterContinental Canberra.

Canberra will also see the debut of Hotel Indigo, which aims to offer vibrant, lifestyle-focused experiences. This dual-brand strategy shows IHG’s commitment to providing diverse luxury options to travelers.

Another exciting upgrade will happen at voco Gold Coast, the brand’s first hotel, which will see extensive renovations with a focus on leisure offerings. This could solidify its status as a family-friendly resort in the area.

According to IHG’s Managing Director for Australasia, Matt Tripolone, this partnership is a significant move for both companies. “This agreement accelerates our Luxury & Lifestyle growth in Australia,” he stated. The goal is to create hotels that reflect modern expectations, blending luxury with unique experiences.

In Australia, the luxury hotel market is thriving. Recent reports show a growing trend for hotel conversions, as travelers increasingly seek immersive experiences. Paul Salter, Managing Director of Salter Brothers, emphasized their commitment to creating distinctive lifestyle experiences globally, which include a focus on wellness and exceptional cuisine.

The collaboration between IHG and Salter Brothers not only aims to transform landmark properties but also solidifies IHG’s position in the hospitality sector. With 76 hotels already in operation and 26 more in the pipeline, IHG is poised for sustained growth in a competitive market.
