Discover How MOCCAE Unveils UACA’s Groundbreaking Report on Private Sector Climate Action at ADSW 2026!

In January 2026, the UAE Alliance for Climate Action (UACA) launched an important survey during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. This survey looks at how private sector companies in the UAE are preparing to tackle climate change. It gives a clear view of the current status, highlighting both successes and areas that need improvement.

Dr. Alanoud Alhaj Al Ali from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) stressed the need for teamwork among all parts of society to reach the UAE’s goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. The report titled “Navigating Decarbonization” gives practical advice to organizations aiming for these targets.

Key findings show that over 75% of organizations set long-term goals for 2050 and mid-term goals for 2030. However, only 55% of these commitments align with scientific standards for net-zero emissions. A significant challenge is Scope 3 emissions, primarily from supply chains, which 40% of respondents identified as their biggest hurdle.

Finance also plays a crucial role. Many businesses feel they need better financial solutions to reach their climate goals. Mohamed Al Marzooqi, CEO of HSBC Bank Middle East, emphasized that cooperation between government and businesses is vital for making real progress.

The report reflects a growing commitment among companies to adopt renewable energy and improve energy efficiency. Yet, it also points to a gap in actual implementation, especially around supply chains and financial resources. This highlights the urgent need for action in 2026 to unlock more climate finance.

In the broader context, there is increasing public interest in climate action, driven by social media trends that showcase grassroots initiatives and corporate efforts. Platforms like Instagram and Twitter are buzzing with ideas and successes in sustainability, motivating more individuals and businesses to join the journey.

As the UAE strives for its Net Zero 2050 goal, this report serves as a valuable resource for businesses and policymakers. It showcases the urgent need for collaboration and innovative finance solutions to address climate challenges effectively.
