Odisha’s transportation has transformed with the arrival of the Vande Bharat Express trains. These semi-high-speed trains offer quicker and more comfortable journeys, connecting major cities and boosting inter-state links.

One prominent route is the Puri–Rourkela train, covering 504 kilometers, while the Bhubaneswar–Visakhapatnam train links Odisha’s capital to the Andhra Pradesh coast. Additional routes like Brahmapur–Tatanagar, Rourkela–Howrah, Raipur–Visakhapatnam, and Berhampur–Tatanagar further enhance the region’s connectivity.

In September 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched six new Vande Bharat services, including the ones mentioned above. The Ministry of Railways plans to expand the network further, with a proposed Vijayawada–Bengaluru route set to cut travel time between these two cities significantly.

The latest Vande Bharat 2.0 features improved safety, including the Kavach system and anti-virus protections, along with onboard Wi-Fi, enhancing the passenger experience.
