Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla recently shared his incredible experiences from the Axiom-4 Mission. He described his time aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as truly unforgettable.

During a press conference, he expressed gratitude to the citizens of India, saying they made the mission feel like a national effort. “It was a mission for the entire nation,” he emphasized. He also remarked on how beautiful India looks from space, echoing, “Bharat aaj bhi Antariksh se saare jahaan se achha dikhta hai,” which means India looks the most beautiful from space.

Shukhla became the second Indian to fly into space as part of the Axiom-4 mission, which launched on June 25 from Florida. The crew, including astronauts from the U.S., Poland, and Hungary, conducted over 60 scientific experiments and 20 outreach activities during their 18 days in orbit.

Shukla described the launch as a unique experience. “Even with training, nothing prepares you for the moment when the rocket ignites. It felt surreal and exhilarating,” he shared. His return to India was met with cheers and celebrations, underlining the pride the nation feels in his accomplishments.

Notably, Shukla had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing advancements in science and technology, as well as India’s future space plans, like the Gaganyaan mission.

This mission is a significant step for India in the space race. In recent years, India has made impressive strides in its space endeavors. According to a report by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), India aims to send its first crewed spacecraft into orbit soon. The Gaganyaan program is expected to launch within the next two years, marking another milestone in its journey among the stars.

Shukhla’s journey also reflects a growing interest in space exploration among the younger generation. Many are now inspired to dream big and pursue careers in STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
