Discover India House: A Must-Visit Gem for Inlander Restaurant Week 2025!

The excitement for Inlander Restaurant Week has been building up, and as the new food writer for the Inlander, I couldn’t wait to dive into Spokane’s culinary delights. My sister and I kicked off our food adventure at India House on South Hill, where we chose their special $35 menu for the occasion.

For our first course, we started with subudana pakore, delicious fritters made from tapioca and potatoes, mixed with spices and fresh herbs. We also tried singhara aloo tikki, another tasty appetizer crafted from water chestnut flour, potatoes, and a mix of herbs and spices. Both dishes were beautifully presented, accompanied by an array of tasty dipping sauces.

Next up were the main courses. I opted for the chicken methi mali, while my sister chose the vegetarian methi matter mali with tofu and green beans. Both curries were rich and creamy, featuring fenugreek and ginger. We selected a medium spice level, which turned out to be just right, allowing the flavors to unfold gradually. Each dish came with fluffy naan and rice to soak up every bit of sauce.

To wrap up the meal, I couldn’t resist trying the carrot cake halwa. As a fan of carrot cake, I was eager to see this unique twist. Made with roasted carrots, nuts, raisins, and cardamom, it had a delightful texture—crumbly yet moist—and a light sweetness that felt just right. My sister chose the paan ice cream, served in a fancy bowl. Its bold flavors—from refreshing betel leaf to rose petal jam—were a delightful surprise that kept us coming back for more.

India House offers its regular menu alongside the Restaurant Week special from Tuesday to Sunday, 11 am to 9 pm, at its three locations. It’s wise to call ahead for reservations, or you can visit indiahouse.us.
