Neon has picked up James Gray’s latest film, Paper Tiger. The movie stars Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson, and Miles Teller, and it promises a tense and gritty ride.
The story follows two brothers chasing the American Dream. However, their journey leads them into a corrupt scheme that seems too good to be true. As they navigate this dangerous world, they face threats from the Russian “Mafiya.” Eventually, their bond is tested, and betrayal becomes a real possibility.
Rodrigo Teixeira produced the film under RT Features, with help from Anthony Katagas and others. Executive producers include Lee Broda and Jeff Rice.
Although Paper Tiger wasn’t included in the Cannes Film Festival lineup last week, it’s rumored to be among the festival’s late additions. With a U.S. distribution deal in place, an official announcement from Cannes is expected soon.
James Gray is no stranger to Cannes; his previous film, Armageddon Time, premiered there in 2022 and was released in the U.S. by Focus Features.
According to recent studies, films exploring themes like corruption resonate more with audiences today. A report from the Pew Research Center found that 67% of viewers prefer movies that reflect social issues, suggesting Paper Tiger might find a receptive audience.
