McDonald’s has introduced a new menu item: McCrispy Strips. This is the first permanent addition since they launched the McCrispy chicken sandwich in 2021. These strips are made from 100% white meat, coated in a crispy, golden-brown breading, and promise a burst of black pepper flavor.
The McCrispy Strips are served with a Creamy Chili Dip, described as a savory, sweet, and tangy sauce that enhances the overall experience. Alyssa Buetikofer, McDonald’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer, shared her excitement about expanding the chicken lineup. She said that fans can look forward to more chicken options under her leadership.
You can enjoy the strips in portions of three or four, each served with one or two cups of the Creamy Chili Dip. If you’re craving something different, McDonald’s also offers other sauces like Tangy Barbecue, Spicy Buffalo, and Creamy Ranch to pair with your meal. These new strips will be available in all locations by May 5.
Reactions to the McCrispy Strips have been mixed but largely positive. One food blogger, known as The Southern Snack on X, rated the strips a 7 out of 10, praising the dip as “absolutely delicious” and dynamic, giving the sauce a perfect 10.
This launch aligns with a growing trend among younger consumers, especially Gen Z, who prefer chicken and dipping sauces over traditional beef options. According to industry reports, beef production in the U.S. has been on a decline, further pushing chains like McDonald’s to explore chicken-centered menus. For instance, KFC has joined the trend with its Saucy restaurant prototype in Orlando, offering various chicken strips paired with a selection of 11 different sauces.
As fast-food chains continue to adapt to changing consumer preferences, the introduction of items like McCrispy Strips highlights the ongoing shift in the industry. Chicken seems to be taking center stage, responding to what fans are craving the most.
