Discover Meta’s Forum: The Ultimate Blend of Reddit, Facebook, and Google AI Insights!

Meta has introduced a new app called Forum, designed for iPhones, which aims to take Facebook Groups to another level. This app also includes an AI chatbot to enhance user interactions, reminiscent of Facebook’s earlier Groups app that was shut down in 2017.

Forum allows users to connect with their Facebook groups more easily. Instead of searching through various platforms, users can ask questions, look for advice, and share insights directly within their groups, aided by the app’s AI.

Upon signing into Forum with your Facebook account, the app gathers the groups you’re a part of, populating your feed with relevant posts. You might even come across groups you once joined but forgot about. The app also features a quick view of your Facebook profile focused just on group interactions, helps you find new groups, and lets you post directly.

The AI chatbot is accessible under the “Ask” tab. It provides responses based on discussions within Facebook groups. To see this in action, I asked about Magic: The Gathering. The AI delivered helpful advice sourced from relevant group discussions, complete with links to the original posts for deeper engagement.

Feryal Hemamda, a communications manager at Meta, shared insights with The Verge, stating: “We test lots of new products publicly to see what people find interesting and useful to their experiences.”

The introduction of Forum comes at a time when people are seeking more focused and personalized online experiences. Recent data shows that 71% of users prefer dedicated platforms that cater to their interests over broader social networks. This trend highlights the growing demand for niche communities and specialized interactions.

As forums evolve, we may see a shift similar to past social media trends, where platforms focused on user interests gained traction. With Forum, Meta is positioning itself to cater to these changing preferences, encouraging deeper connections within communities.

For those interested in exploring Forum, you can find the app on the App Store.
