Metsä Board has rolled out MetsäBoard Pro FBB Go, a new folding boxboard designed for the food and pharmaceutical industries. Along with this, they offer a fast custom-cut sheet delivery service for customers in Europe.
MetsäBoard Pro FBB Go is a flexible packaging option. It helps businesses respond quickly to changes in demand while keeping their inventory slim. Maarten Florizoone, Metsä Board’s Vice President for Sales Europe, highlights the importance of agility. “Our clients face fluctuating demand. With our new product and service, we help them streamline production and strengthen their supply chains,” he explains.
This boxboard is known for its consistent quality, making it perfect for regulatory requirements in the food and pharmaceutical sectors. It also helps reduce the environmental impact of packaging through its lightweight design and the use of fossil-free energy at the company’s Husum mill in Sweden. Notably, it contains no optical brightening agents and includes hard sizing, ensuring it performs well even in frozen conditions.
Metsä Board has set up its Sheeting & Distribution Hub in the Netherlands. This facility can quickly provide custom-cut sheet formats with reliable lead times. Their FastTrack Service delivers sheets within three weeks, while the ExpressTrack Service can ensure delivery in less than ten days. This rapid turnaround supports converters and brand owners, making it easier to manage supply chains effectively without excess inventory.
Adding to their commitment to innovation, Metsä Board plans to establish a Packaging Design Studio in Milan by mid-2026. This studio will feature advanced tools and AI technology to foster collaborative project development.
Recent market trends show an increasing demand for sustainable packaging solutions. According to a survey by Smithers Pira, the sustainable packaging market is expected to reach $400 billion by 2025. This growing focus on eco-friendly options ties directly into Metsä’s strategy, positioning them well in a competitive market.
As consumer preferences shift toward sustainable practices, companies like Metsä Board are crucial in meeting these needs. Their initiatives not only provide practical solutions but also align with broader sustainability goals.
