Moose Jaw is in for some gloomy weather as we head into the Easter long weekend. Rose Carlsen, a meteorologist with Environment and Climate Change Canada, shares what to expect.
For Friday, brace yourself for low clouds, fog, and freezing drizzle. But Saturday might bring a little relief with a high near 10°C. There could be some light showers in the evening, but they shouldn’t be too disruptive.
As we wrap up the weekend, temperatures will stay in the single digits. Expect chilly overnight lows, dipping down to between -4°C and -9°C. Carlsen advises caution in the early mornings. The ground may still be icy, making surfaces slippery.
“Be careful when driving,” Carlsen warns. “With the ground not fully thawed, conditions can be tricky.” Luckily, as we move further into spring, these slippery surfaces tend to clear up more quickly than they did a month ago.
Looking into early next week, the forecast looks calmer for southern Saskatchewan. Moose Jaw should see milder weather with no significant storms looming. Though, keep an eye on Saturday for possible showers moving in from the north.
As people travel for Easter, it’s wise to stay updated on local forecasts and take extra safety measures on potentially slick roads.
Interestingly, a recent survey found that 70% of Canadians prefer to spend Easter away from home, often battling travel and weather concerns. So, Moose Jaw residents aren’t alone in navigating these unpredictable spring conditions.
