Discover Muji’s Exciting New Food Market in New York: A First for America!

Muji has launched its first food market in the U.S. at Chelsea Market. Here, you can find a variety of Japanese dishes like onigiri, tamago egg sandwiches, curry bowls, and dorayaki. They also offer pastries and a unique black sesame latte made by a robot barista named Jarvis. This market expands on their recently added shelf-stable snacks and pantry products. It opened over the weekend and is now welcoming visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Despite a brief TikTok ban during the weekend, many users have already shared their experiences there.

Exciting news is coming for wine lovers! David Wilson and Zoe Clifton, who met while working at the well-known restaurant Cosme, are set to open a new “working-class wine bar” called Babysips this spring on Rivington Street in the Lower East Side. They plan to draw inspiration from their time in Spain and Brazil, incorporating local ingredients into their food menu.

In a recent development, HŪSO, led by Top Chef season 19 winner Buddha Lo, is relocating to Tribeca. Originally located on the Upper East Side, the restaurant closed due to a fire. The new HŪSO will open in February at 323A Greenwich Street, featuring a larger space with 28 seats and a creative 12-course tasting menu.

In support of Los Angeles, several fundraising events are taking place soon. On January 25 at 10 a.m., Archestratus, a cookbook store in Greenpoint, will hold a bakesale aimed at helping the city rebuild. Additionally, on January 24, Ggiata, an Italian deli from LA, will host a special event at Scarr’s Pizza on the Lower East Side from noon until 1 a.m. All proceeds will go to the ARC Firefighter Fund, and they’ll be serving up sandwiches and a collaborative pizza with Scarr’s.
