ORLANDO, Fla. – The Orlando Science Center recently hosted its fourth annual “Science on Tap” beer festival. This fun event aimed to support local breweries in Central Florida while benefiting the science center.
There was something for everyone, from beer tastings to lively “Foamsplosions,” which showcased the wonders of science. One of the standout participants was Anonymous Brewery, a group of local brewers who craft their beers right from home.
Khrysti Hunsworth from Anonymous Brewery cleverly combined beer-making with science. She designed an engaging game for guests. Attendees had the chance to guess the single hop used for bittering, flavor, and aroma in different beers.
“We’re giving people the chance to use their hop knowledge and science knowledge after this fest,” Hunsworth said. Participants had four types of hops to choose from: Amarillo, Centennial, Idaho 7, and Simcoe.
Hunsworth emphasized, “People have better palates than they know. They can sense flavors in beer that they enjoy. This card helps them figure out what that is.”
The Orlando Science Center relies on funds from events like this to keep science fun and accessible to everyone. The festival ran from 1-4 p.m. and also encouraged guests to visit the center again on January 26 for the opening of the new exhibit “Top Secret: License to Spy.”
If you missed the festival but love sampling good brews, there’s still time to join in the fun. Orlando Beer Week is back for its fifth year, running from now until February 2.
