Discover Penticton’s New Lake-to-Lake Bike Lane: Your Ultimate Summer Adventure Awaits!

Construction has restarted on the final part of Penticton’s bike lane project now that the weather is warmer.

This engaging 6.7-kilometre bike lane is designed to run from Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake. Most of the work should wrap up in the next few months.

According to city spokesperson Shane Mills, “We expect the main construction to be done by June, but landscaping will take a bit longer.”

Starting March 3, the northbound lane of South Main Street will close between Yorkton Avenue and Green Avenue for bike lane work. The closure will happen from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, but traffic will return to normal in the evenings.

While southbound traffic won’t be affected, the city warns that there might be more road closures as work continues through May. They promise to keep everyone updated on any prolonged closures.

This project kicked off in 2021, and concrete barriers are already in place on Martin Street, Fairview Road, and Atkinson Street. Once finished, this bike lane will create a safe route for cyclists to enjoy the beautiful lakes in the area.
