Rivian recently made waves by announcing the starting price of $3,500 for its new e-bike, the TM-B. This comes as the company steps into the electric bike market with a unique twist. The TM-B comes in three versions: a limited Launch edition, a Performance model, and a base model. The higher-end versions kick off at $4,500, while the base model is under $4,000.

Although the base TM-B is the most affordable option, it does have its drawbacks. It offers a maximum range of just 60 miles and a 5x power assist. It features a coil fork suspension and a standard ride mode. On the flip side, the more expensive models boast a range of up to 100 miles, a 10x power assist, air fork suspension, and allow riders to choose between sport and standard ride modes.

One key highlight: the base model will only come in gray. You’ll miss out on the eye-catching transparent shell that showcases the impressive virtual drivetrain known as DreamRide.

While $3,500 makes the TM-B relatively cheaper than expected, it still represents a premium price point for an e-bike. The base model is currently available for preorder with a $50 refundable deposit, and shipping is expected to start in late 2026.

According to a recent report by the Light Electric Vehicle Association, e-bike sales have surged. In 2022, sales reached nearly 790,000 units in the U.S., reflecting a growing interest in eco-friendly transportation options. As cities aim to reduce their carbon footprints, many are turning to electric bikes as an efficient alternative to cars.

It’ll be interesting to see how Rivian’s e-bike fares in a market that’s rapidly evolving. Consumers are keenly interested in sustainable options, so Rivian’s entry could shape competition and innovation in the electric mobility space.
