Savory Calle is a new Latin and Central American bar that just opened in downtown Gastonia over the Fourth of July weekend. Located at 223 E. Main Ave., it aims to fill a void in the local nightlife.

Arturo Perez, one of the owners, believes the club offers something unique. “They don’t have this kind of club around here,” he said. The venue combines a lively dance floor with a walk-up food service, allowing club-goers to enjoy both dancing and delicious food.

Perez’s partner, Indy Boteju, owns the building and emphasized the focus on the dance experience while catering to hungry patrons. The bar features a catering service called Calle, which serves authentic Latin dishes like pupusas, tortas, burrito bowls, and more. This tasty side addition makes Savory Calle stand out even more.

The club is open from 5 p.m. to midnight on Sunday and Tuesday through Thursday. On weekends, it stays open a bit longer, until 2 a.m. Calle’s walk-up window offers food from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, with plans to eventually serve breakfast. Boteju mentioned they are excited about themed nights featuring various Latin music styles to enhance the clubbing experience.

Latino nightlife has been on the rise in many areas. A recent survey by the National Restaurant Association shows that Latino cuisine is becoming increasingly popular, with nearly 50% of diners expressing interest in exploring these flavors. Boteju and Perez’s venture taps into this growing trend, promising to bring vibrant music and fantastic food to Gastonia.

With Savory Calle, locals can expect a lively atmosphere and a taste of Latin culture that has often been missing from their nightlife options. They’re not just offering a club; they’re creating a community hub for Latin music and cuisine.
