Valley Goat, a new restaurant from acclaimed chef Stephanie Izard, is set to open in Sunnyvale on March 31. Stephanie is a well-known figure in the culinary world, especially after winning the fourth season of Top Chef in 2008. She’s opened multiple restaurants, including the famous Girl & the Goat locations in Chicago and Los Angeles.
Valley Goat will be located in the newly opened Treehouse Hotel, which recently took over a former Sheraton site. It’s a spacious venue, boasting 250 seats and a unique kitchen equipped with a Josper grill. This grill allows for high-temperature cooking, giving dishes a distinctive smoky flavor.
The menu at Valley Goat is inspired by global cuisines and includes some exclusive dishes. Noteworthy items feature wood-fired eggplant served with tahini, carrot hummus, and tzatziki, alongside pork belly noodles paired with wood-fired pineapple. There are also goat empanadas as a starter, and fans of Izard’s cooking will recognize her signature grilled oysters and chickpea fritters.
For bigger plates, guests can enjoy a whole wood-fired branzino with Thai sweet and sour sauce, a sticky pork shank, or the wood-fired eggplant. The drink menu is just as inventive, with cocktails like the Goat Gibson, made with fish-sauce brine and gin, and a mezcal mule called the End of the Valley, featuring passionfruit.
Interestingly, Stephanie has not only made her mark in restaurants but is also a familiar face on the Food Network, competing and judging on several popular shows. She is a James Beard Award winner, recognized for her contributions to the culinary arts.
As restaurant trends evolve, the blend of bold flavors and unique cooking techniques like those at Valley Goat highlight a growing appreciation for creative dining experiences. This focus on innovative approaches is reflected in recent statistics, which show that diners are increasingly adventurous with their food choices. For example, a 2022 survey found that 80% of food enthusiasts actively seek out new flavor combinations and international dishes.
For food lovers in the Bay Area, Valley Goat promises to be an exciting destination to explore global dishes crafted by a talented chef. You can check out the full menu and make reservations through the Treehouse Hotel website here.
