Exciting News: Flash Forward Entertainment from Taiwan is showcasing new films at the European Film Market in Berlin. Among these are the fantasy romance Time Loop With the Moon and the mysterious tale Moonlight, Ripples!.
Patrick Mao Huang leads Flash Forward. He has co-produced notable films like Pierce, which won best director at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and Tiger Stripes, awarded the Grand Prix at Cannes 2023.
Time Loop With the Moon is based on a popular novel by Misa and is now in development. It tells the story of a teenage girl who wishes to see her lost friend again. She awakens in the past, possessing another person’s body during a tragic moment. Stuck in a time loop, she must uncover the secrets of her past to break free. This film blends romance, suspense, and supernatural elements, focusing on themes of fate and second chances.
Another film, Moonlight, Ripples!, directed by Liu Zhong-Hua, is currently in post-production and set for completion in late 2025. It follows a man with amnesia who wanders through an empty city, piecing together his life through three surreal meetings. As reality merges with imagination, he confronts hidden memories that define who he is. Huang mentioned that there are plans for this to be a co-production between China and France.
Flash Forward is also working on a sci-fi drama series called Millennium Town. This series revolves around a group stuck in a never-ending loop of the year 1999, forcing them to face their pasts while they seek a way out. It recently gained attention at Series Mania’s Serial Bridges in France.
In addition, the documentary Mothers in Transit explores the complexities of cross-border surrogacy. It follows Taiwanese couples as they navigate laws and challenges in places like Ukraine and Thailand. The film has been featured at various pitching forums and has received funding from Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, with plans to find European co-production partners.
Other titles in Flash Forward’s lineup include Blind Love, which recently premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. Directed by Julian Chou and produced by Huang, it stars well-known actors like Ariel Lin and Ke-Xi Wu.
Finally, the slate also includes Deep Quiet Room, a Taiwan-Italy co-production, and The Sleepless Girl by Francois Chang. The company is further strengthening its creative reach with four immersive projects in collaboration with partners in France and Denmark.
