Mamani, a brand-new restaurant in Dallas, stunned everyone at the 2025 Michelin Guide ceremony with its unexpected 1-star award. Open for only 48 days, it showcases French-Italian cuisine. Michelin confirmed that there are no strict opening dates; restaurants can be reviewed and rated as soon as they start serving. Executive Chef Christophe De Lellis and co-owners Henry and Brandon Cohanim accepted their award with visible shock and joy.

This year, Dallas-Fort Worth welcomed just one other 1-star recipient, Tatsu Dallas, which proudly keeps its Michelin star for the second year in a row. The Michelin Guide is known for its themes. This year’s ceremony put a spotlight on these elite 1-star restaurants, leaving the “Recommended” options on the sidelines. Michelin’s 1-, 2-, and 3-star awards signify the highest standards in dining, and receiving one is a big deal.

Chef De Lellis’s Mamani, located at 2681 Howell St., features a varied menu that balances comfort food with high-end offerings. Dishes range from homemade gnocchi to decadent scallops with caviar. His experience as a former executive chef at Joël Robuchon in Las Vegas undoubtedly contributed to this quick success.

Tatsu Dallas, nestled in one of Dallas’ older buildings at 3309 Elm St., offers an exquisite omakase experience, focusing on sushi and unique courses prepared by fourth-generation chef Tatsuya Sekiguchi. This blend of tradition and artistry earned him this prestigious honor.

The awards ceremony celebrated the state’s growth in culinary excellence, with Texas showcasing 18 1-star restaurants this year, a rise from 15 last year. However, none achieved the coveted 2- or 3-star ratings, which are reserved for the absolute finest dining experiences.

Another interesting highlight was Mister Charles, which earned an Exceptional Cocktail Award thanks to its vibrant atmosphere and innovative mixed drinks, signaling a growing trend in culinary presentations that extend beyond food to include beverage craft. Located at 3219 Knox St., it stands at the heart of Dallas’ foodie culture.

Across Texas, the guide honored 140 restaurants representing 33 diverse cuisines. This focus on variety is especially noteworthy in a state known for its rich culinary landscape, from barbecue to tacos, each representing deep-rooted traditions.

Among the Bib Gourmand awardees reflecting value and quality are familiar favorites like Cattleack Barbeque and Goldee’s Barbecue, both celebrated for their unmatched smoked meats. Goldee’s, located at 4645 Dick Price Road in Fort Worth, this year celebrated not just its award but also the influence it has in Texas, with protégés receiving accolades as Young Chef Awards.
