Discover the 8 Groundbreaking Climate Innovations from the Mumbai Climate Week Challenge 2026!

Mumbai recently hosted its first significant platform for climate action, the Mumbai Climate Week (MCW), where innovative solutions to climate challenges were recognized. On February 19, 2026, eight groundbreaking ideas were awarded during the MCW Innovation Challenge.

This initiative aimed to highlight and support climate innovators from India and the Global South. The awards were presented by Maharashtra’s Governor, Shri Acharya Devvrat, alongside key government officials.

Over 350 startups and young innovators submitted their proposals across various climate categories, such as water conservation and energy efficiency. After thorough evaluations, 34 finalists pitched their ideas to an esteemed panel of experts, investors, and climate leaders. These finalists showcased solutions that could drive India’s journey toward a more sustainable future.

The winners included well-prepared and scalable solutions, crucial for enhancing climate resilience. Notably, two winners came from the Youth Green Innovation Challenge, which focuses on empowering young individuals aged 16 to 24 to tackle climate issues. This approach highlights the importance of nurturing the next generation of climate leaders.

Here are the winners of the MCW Innovation Challenge:

  • Enlog
  • Temperate Technologies Private Limited
  • Fitsol Supply Chain Solutions
  • Indra Water
  • Bambrew
  • Torus Robotics

From the Youth Green Innovation Challenge:

  • EnviroWealth
  • Decentralized Biochar Systems

The program received support from significant partners like the National Stock Exchange of India and UNICEF’s YuWaah initiative. This collaborative effort aims to provide not just recognition but also mentorship and networking opportunities for the innovators.

The context of climate change is crucial. According to the World Health Organization, it is expected to cause approximately 250,000 additional deaths per year between 2030 and 2050 due to factors like malnutrition and heat stress. Initiatives like MCW are vital to combat these impending threats.

Mumbai Climate Week 2026 was held from February 17 to 19 and is designed to enhance the city’s position as a climate solutions hub. This endeavor not only addresses local environmental issues but also plays a pivotal role on the global stage by encouraging sustainable practices.
