Discover the Elegance of I.C.E. St. Moritz: A Spectacular Celebration of Iconic Cars

The I.C.E. St Moritz is an exciting car show that attracts collectors and enthusiasts from all over. This year, it showcased more than 50 stunning classic and sports cars on the gorgeous frozen Lake St Moritz.

Founded by Marco Makaus and racing star Ronnie Kessel, the event featured five categories, including Barchettas on the Lake and Racing Legends. The rare vehicles sparkled on the ice, and there were thrilling laps around the lake, drawing the crowd’s admiration.

In true St Moritz style, luxury brands were part of the experience, with names like Richard Mille and Loro Piana adding charm to the event.

Set against the beautiful Swiss Alps, the show honored automotive history. The coveted ‘Best in Show’ award went to a magnificent 1934 Bugatti 59, known for its classic elegance and engineering brilliance. It was owned by designer Marc Newson, who received the trophy from famed architect Lord Foster, adding a touch of cultural significance.

Ronnie Kessel highlighted the show’s essence by saying it’s about more than just cars. It’s a cultural event that merges design, history, and performance. Lord Foster’s link to St Moritz makes the award even more special, recognizing not just automotive mastery but also a piece of cultural heritage.

Lord Foster, a lifelong car lover, reflected on his career being shaped by car design. Notably, he curated an exhibition on this very topic at the Guggenheim Bilbao last year.

In 2024, he joined the concours jury and designed a unique trophy that embodies the spirit of St Moritz and the event itself.

Richard Mille, a renowned Swiss watchmaker, sponsored the event for the third year in a row. Tilly Harrison, representing Richard Mille, presented the Best in Show award to Newson. She praised the Bugatti 59 for its iconic design and craftsmanship, aligning perfectly with the brand’s values.

Looking ahead, car fans can anticipate more thrilling events, like the all-female Rallye des Princesses Richard Mille in May 2025 and the prestigious Le Mans Classic in July 2025.
