Penn Area Library is hosting a fun puppet show for kids on June 16, from 1 to 2 p.m. It’s called “Kids on the Block” and aims to teach children about conditions like cerebral palsy, blindness, and deafness. Parents can register online or by calling 724-744-4414.
For adults, there are painting classes lined up on June 19, July 19, and August 21, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. All skill levels are welcome. Just give the library a call to sign up.
On June 20, from 1 to 3 p.m., adults and teens can join a fun puzzle challenge called Puzzle-Paluzzo. Participants can work individually or in pairs to complete a puzzle in one hour. Rewards await the first groups that finish!
The library is located at 2001 Municipal Court.
Next up, the Penn-Trafford Area Recreation Commission is throwing a food truck and music event on June 20, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Municipal Park. The local rock band Who’s Debbie will be playing classic tunes from the ’70s, while food trucks like Blazzin Hibachi, Mediterranean Tastes, Kona Ice, and Sooo Delicious will be serving up tasty bites.
Attendees can also enjoy kickball, cornhole, and fishing in the park pond.
In Greensburg, the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library is currently showcasing an exhibit titled “The Figure Drawing Artists of Greensburg,” open until July 29. The exhibit started on June 4 and can be viewed during library hours: Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Another exciting event is taking place at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, opening an interactive maze exhibit on June 13. This exhibit transforms the museum’s space into a maze filled with murals created by local artists. Visitors can join in a scavenger hunt to find artworks that inspired the maze. Admission is free for members and kids 3 and under, while it’s $10 for non-members and $45 for groups of ten or more. The exhibit runs until August 17, and the museum can be visited Wednesday through Sunday.
