Mumbai: The Special Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train was launched by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. This journey is special as it aligns with the 351st anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation.

This project is a collaboration between the Maharashtra Government, Indian Railways, and IRCTC. The train will take passengers on a five-day trip to key locations linked to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. CM Fadnavis expressed his excitement, highlighting this as an opportunity for people, particularly the youth, to reconnect with their heritage. He mentioned that 80% of the travelers on this inaugural journey are under 40 years old, emphasizing a growing interest in history among younger generations.

Fadnavis said, “351 years ago, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj laid the foundation of Hindavi Swaraj. This train will showcase significant places from his life over the next five days.” The inaugural trip is completely booked, with 710 passengers on board.

The six-day journey covers various significant sites:

• Day 1: From CSMT to Mangaon and Raigad Fort (the site of Shivaji Maharaj’s crowning), with an overnight stay in Pune.
• Day 2: Sightseeing in Pune, including Lal Mahal, Kasba Ganapati, and Shivsrushti heritage park.
• Day 3: Morning visit to Shivneri Fort (Shivaji’s birthplace) and Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga temple, returning to Pune.
• Day 4: Travel to Satara and Pratapgarh Fort (the site of the historic battle against Afzal Khan), then on to Kolhapur.
• Day 5: Mahalaxmi Temple and Panhala Fort in Kolhapur, known for its historical significance.
• Day 6: Return trip to Mumbai, arriving early in the morning.
