BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Fair is a delightful mix of tasty food, exciting attractions, and adorable animals. This year, it’s even more enticing!
I got an early look at the fair and tried some unique treats, including strawberry treats and chocolate cinnamon rolls inspired by Dubai. According to Chelsey Roberts, the Fair’s Marketing Director, these snacks are a big hit. “They’ve been trending on TikTok, and they really showcase our local agriculture,” she said.
While sampling the food, I met a charming dog named Zelda. She has a heartwarming backstory—once a stray in Bakersfield, she was rescued and now travels the country performing in shows.
Brandon Chin, her trainer, shared how much spirit she has. “She used to run wild but now she’s a star in our show,” he said. This is the first time they’ve featured a dog from the area, adding a special touch to the fair.
Zelda’s performances are part of the daily events. It’s a free attraction that many fairgoers enjoy, and Roberts emphasized how it’s a unique opportunity for families.
There’s plenty for everyone at the Kern County Fair this year. Whether you’re there for the food, the fun, or to watch Zelda light up the stage, you’re sure to find something to love.
With the fair being a local treasure, it’s worth noting that events like this can bring communities together. They offer a chance to celebrate local talent, culture, and the joy of great food.
