Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently announced exciting news: nine new Amrit Bharat Express trains are set to launch soon. These trains will connect various states, enhancing travel options between West Bengal and Assam with Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra.
Here’s the list of the new routes:
1. Guwahati (Kamakhya) – Rohtak
2. Dibrugarh – Lucknow (Gomti Nagar)
3. New Jalpaiguri – Nagercoil
4. New Jalpaiguri – Tiruchirappalli
5. Alipurduar – SMVT Bengaluru
6. Alipurduar – Mumbai (Panvel)
7. Kolkata (Santragachi) – Tambaram
8. Kolkata (Howrah) – Anand Vihar Terminal
The Amrit Bharat Express trains are designed for budget-friendly long-distance travel. They provide non-air-conditioned sleeper-class options, making them accessible for many passengers. Prime Minister Modi highlighted that these trains are a crucial step in improving passenger comfort and connectivity, with benefits that extend to boosting commerce and tourism as well.
Since their launch in December 2023, 30 Amrit Bharat Express services are already in operation, and Indian Railways plans to expand the network further. This expansion aligns with current trends where public transport is increasingly vital for promoting economic growth.
Interestingly, according to a recent survey by the Indian Ministry of Railways, over 70% of passengers prioritize affordability when choosing travel options. This makes the Amrit Bharat Express a timely and relevant choice for many.
As we move toward a more interconnected future, the Amrit Bharat Express trains symbolize a significant effort to enhance rail travel in India, making it more efficient and accessible.
