Food Truck Tuesdays Finds a New Home at Reach Church

Salisbury is buzzing with excitement as Food Truck Tuesdays returns to its roots at Reach Church on Horah Street. For four years, this popular Tuesday event has delighted families with a mix of delicious food and fun. Originally, Food Truck Tuesdays kicked off in Spencer, then moved to the Rowan County Fairgrounds, where it thrived. However, the event faced challenges, particularly after the sudden loss of co-founder Travis Fennell in March 2024.
For Tranise Brown, continuing the event without Travis felt daunting. “He was the face of Food Truck Tuesdays,” she reminisces. “I wondered if I should just let it end with him.” Yet, Brown found strength through her faith, deciding to honor Travis’s memory by bringing the event back to where it all began. “I realized that placing it where it belongs would help it grow," she says.
Food Truck Tuesdays aims to reconnect families in an age where connections can feel scattered. Brown believes it’s crucial to provide a space for families to bond over good food. This year, the event is set to kick off on March 18, running from 4 to 8 p.m. While there will be slightly fewer trucks, she reassures everyone that there will still be plenty of options. “I can’t thank the food truck operators enough; many have been with me from the start,” says Brown.
The return to Reach Church also brings a sense of community support. “Pastor Bradley Taylor has been a quiet rock through all this,” Brown shares. “Reach isn’t just a church; it’s a system of support.”
In addition to Food Truck Tuesdays, Brown is also hosting free line dancing classes at the Salisbury Civic Center on Monday nights. These classes have quickly gained popularity, attracting more than 75 participants on their second night. It’s a wonderful way for the community to come together and enjoy new experiences.
Brown emphasizes the significance of the Food Truck Tuesdays name, which she and Travis built from the ground up. “It’s a brand that represents our journey together,” she explains.
Accessibility is also a priority with the new location. Food Truck Tuesdays is now easier for college students and local residents to attend. “I’m thrilled to be closer to people and can’t wait to see familiar and new faces alike,” Brown says.
As Food Truck Tuesdays gears up for its new chapter, it stands as a testament to resilience, community spirit, and the power of coming together—one meal at a time.
