From June 7 to 21, these eateries will showcase special menu items using fresh produce from the food bank. It’s a delicious way to support the Summer Meals for Kids program.
Nikki Whitehead, the Philanthropy Manager at the San Antonio Food Bank, highlights a pressing issue: “Around 200,000 kids in San Antonio usually receive free or reduced meals at school. When the school year ends, these children miss out on essential meals.” This initiative seeks to change that by encouraging local restaurants to provide healthy, affordable food options.
Tyler and Stephannie Beyers, the chefs behind Eat Chingon, share their excitement. Their Mexican restaurant uses recipes from Mexico City. “This is a great chance to get closer to our community,” says Stephannie. They see it as more than just a meal service; it’s about creating connections.
