Four standout wineries from central Pennsylvania liked last year’s collaborative event so much that they are joining forces again this July.
The Wines of Distinction event will take place at Melhorn Manor in Mount Joy, Lancaster County, on Sunday, July 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. Wineries participating this year include Waltz Vineyards, Nissley Vineyards, Grandview Vineyard, and Armstrong Valley Winery. It promises an afternoon filled with fine wines, delicious food pairings, and live music.
General admission tickets are $55.20, while VIP tickets cost $81.88. The VIP experience offers early entry and a special tasting session featuring Cabernet Franc wines, allowing guests to learn more about this unique varietal.
Sarah Haines, co-owner of Grandview Vineyard, expressed excitement about the event. “Last year was fantastic, and we received great feedback. This year, the VIP portion will introduce a vertical tasting of Cabernet Franc, which I believe our guests will really enjoy.”
Her family took ownership of Grandview in 2020, and since then, they have focused on improving the winery’s quality. Instead of creating new wines, they’ve invested in new equipment to refine their production processes, ensuring that their offerings remain top-notch.
Recent statistics show that Pennsylvania’s wine industry is gaining ground. A recent report indicated a 15% increase in local sales of Pennsylvania wines over the past year. This growth reflects a broader trend where more consumers are exploring local wines, aligning with the farm-to-table movement.
Participating wineries have also been making headlines. For instance, Waltz Vineyards recently received a $224,190 grant aimed at increasing domestic sales. The winery’s commitment to quality is evident, as their wines took top spots in national competitions.
Nissley Wine Cellars is expanding its portfolio, with its Pinot Grigio landing in the top 10 of a prestigious competition. They also host a family-friendly concert series during the summer, creating a lively atmosphere for wine lovers.
Armstrong Valley Winery has also earned recognition with multiple awards, including double gold at the Finger Lakes International competition for their Riesling. They have exciting plans for the summer season, including live music and special hours.
With this rejuvenated interest in local wines and experiences, the Wines of Distinction event is more than just a tasting; it’s a celebration of the thriving Pennsylvania wine community.
