CLARK COUNTY (KTNV) — Get ready for the Indian Food Festival returning on Saturday, May 2! This annual event celebrates the growing Indian community and culture in the valley.
The festival began in 2004 at small community centers and has since blossomed into a major cultural gathering at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, attracting thousands of visitors. After a pause due to COVID, it came back strong last year, and vendors are excited to see its return.
I recently chatted with Jaspreet Hira, the general manager of India Palace, a restaurant that’s been part of the festival since the beginning. “The festival is fantastic for reaching new customers,” he shared. “Many who try our food here come back to us for family events and gatherings.” He noted that interest in Indian cuisine has surged, with new restaurants popping up around the valley.
“More people are willing to try Indian dishes. It’s great to see them exploring new flavors,” Hira added.
The festival features more than just food. Attendees can shop at an artisan marketplace for unique items and enjoy live performances showcasing traditional Indian music and dance.
“This festival is about much more than food; it’s a celebration of our culture and community,” said Tony Purewal, one of the festival organizers. “We want everyone to experience the vibrant diversity of India right here in Las Vegas.”
Running from noon to 10 p.m. at 500 South Grand Central Parkway, this festival promises fun for everyone. Tickets are $15, and children under 8 enter for free. Plus, parking is free!
As the interest in diverse cuisines grows, events like this bring people together, encouraging them to step outside their culinary comfort zones. A recent survey by the National Restaurant Association found that 67% of diners are eager to try new and exotic dishes. This festival is a perfect example of that trend in action.
