Discover the Future: IISc’s Open Day 2025 Inspires Young Innovators with Groundbreaking Science

Bengaluru: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) welcomed the public on Saturday for its annual ‘Open Day 2025’, celebrating National Science Day. The theme this year was “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” set by the Department of Science and Technology.

This popular event drew thousands of visitors, including students, teachers, and science fans who were eager to explore one of India’s leading research institutions. Though entry was free, many schools pre-registered their students to maximize the experience.

IISc is known for its groundbreaking research in various fields, and normally, the public can’t access the campus. However, ‘Open Day’ is a special occasion, held in honor of Jamsetji Tata, the founder of the institute. The goal is to spark scientific interest and motivate future researchers.

With 42 departments and research centers in areas like Electronics, Mechanical Sciences, and Microbiology, the event offered an inside look at ongoing research and technology. Visitors had the chance to witness experiments in action, interact with professionals, and ask questions about scientific discoveries.

Attendees enjoyed hands-on activities, scientific demonstrations, and engaging discussions. “Seeing research projects up close was incredible. We learned through interactive experiments,” said one school student.

The ‘Open Day’ featured various activities, including lectures, poster displays, quizzes, and competitions tailored for young learners. Many students expressed how much they loved solving scientific puzzles and engaging with researchers. “It opened our eyes to the world of science,” shared one participant.

This event also highlighted the importance of scientific exploration. By connecting students with researchers and showcasing advanced projects, Open Day 2025 inspired the next generation to consider careers in science and technology. It was not just a celebration of achievements; it was a call to ignite curiosity and innovation in young minds.
