Loma Linda University Health is hosting its 52nd Fine Arts Festival, which runs until June 3. This festival showcases the creative talents within the LLUH community—faculty, students, and staff—through art, music, and theater. It aims to introduce visitors to the vibrant artistic side of the university, celebrating how creativity contributes to our understanding of humanity.
The first event, “Agnes of God,” is a powerful play by John Pielmeier. Set to take place on March 15 and 16, this story explores themes of faith and mental health through the interactions of a young nun, a skeptical mother superior, and a psychiatrist. This performance offers a chance for attendees to engage with the actors after the show, making it an intimate experience. Shows will be held in the Damazo Amphitheater, with the Saturday performance starting at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday’s at 2:00 p.m.
From April 21 to June 2, the Loma Linda Art, Photography, and Mixed Media Exhibition will be available for public viewing. This exhibition reflects the artistic talents within the LLU community and promotes a connection between the university and the broader community. Visitors can view the artwork at both the Loma Linda Civic Center and the LLU Drayson Center.
Another highlight is the Sacred Choir Festival on April 19, featuring a mass choir of 200 voices from eight different choirs across the Inland Empire. This concert, themed “Jesus Is Coming Again,” includes a commissioned piece called “Lift Up the Trumpet.” It will take place at the Loma Linda Indonesian Church at 4:30 p.m. on April 19, showcasing a blend of talented singers, many of whom are part of the LLUH family.
On April 27, the event “Music, Artful Hobbies, and Vintage Collectables” will celebrate creativity outside of traditional professions. This event, held at the Romanian Adventist Church from 2 to 6 p.m., will feature individuals who channel their passion into impressive works and collections.
The Poetic Voices gathering on May 7 aims to encourage creativity and expression among LLUH community members. This informal poetry session starts at 7:00 p.m. and invites anyone to share their own poems or simply enjoy the work of others.
On May 17, the Loma Linda University Church will host its Spring Concert, featuring choirs and orchestras that bring a touching musical experience to the community. This year’s theme is “We Have This Hope: Songs of Eternity,” and the concert will start at 4:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Lastly, the Ivory Showcase recital on May 18 will highlight the musical achievements of young pianists from LLUH and the community. This joyful celebration will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Loma Linda Civic Center, showcasing the musical talents of students aged 5 to 18.
The Fine Arts Festival is a wonderful time for the Loma Linda community to come together and appreciate the creative talents that enrich our lives.
