LINCOLN, Neb. — Lincoln is a growing hub for STEM careers.
Southeast Community College celebrated the opening of the Sandhills Global Technology Center on Wednesday.
“We are thrilled about the learning and innovation that will take place in this new center,” said SCC President Paul Illich. “It directly addresses the skilled workforce gap in Nebraska.”
The $37 million center aims to fill job shortages by connecting students with local businesses for easy job placement after graduation.
Programs will include biotechnology, design drafting, electronic systems, and information technology.
This project was funded by a mix of federal money and private donations, with Sandhills Global contributing $5 million—the largest donation the college has ever received.
Classes will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
