Discover the Impact of Climate Change: Must-See Film Screening on the Isle of Wight!

The National Emergency Briefing documentary screening is happening at St Catherine’s Church in Ventnor on Friday, April 10, from 7 PM to 9 PM. This 45-minute film dives into the problems caused by climate change in the UK and pushes for immediate action.

After the screening, everyone is invited to join a discussion. This talk is a chance to explore the issues raised in the film and brainstorm possible solutions, both locally and nationally.

Supported by organizations like the WWF, National Trust, and CPRE, this event aims to raise climate awareness. Notably, broadcaster and environmental advocate Chris Packham is backing the program. He encourages everyone to come, calling it an opportunity for “honest local conversation” about the challenges we face and how we can work together to tackle them.

The conversation will cover serious issues like the effects of climate change on public health and infrastructure. Experts warn that without action, we could face increased health risks as air and water quality decline.

Recent statistics paint a troubling picture. According to a 2022 report from the Climate Change Committee, the UK’s climate is changing faster than expected, with extreme weather events becoming more frequent. This increases floods and heatwaves, both of which threaten our communities.

Participation in the event is free. You can reserve a spot through Eventbrite, or feel free to drop by on the day!

By engaging in discussions like this, we can better understand our roles in combating climate change. It’s not just about awareness; it’s about taking steps to ensure a healthier planet for future generations.
