Adam Benjamin Hagen, 44, from rural Benton County, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2026, after a brave fight against cancer.
Born on February 16, 1981, in Willmar, Minnesota, Adam was the son of Timothy and Laurie Hagen. He tied the knot with Kay Hostetler on May 31, 2003, in Walkerton, Indiana. They had a daughter, Anna, who is now a senior at Benton Central High School.
Adam leaves behind his wife, daughter, parents, brother Andrew (Maggie) Hagen, sister Bonnie Hagen, and in-laws David and Betty Hostetler. He was preceded in death by his older brother, Benjamin.
Adam loved the outdoors. He cherished hunting and fishing trips with friends. His favorite events included an annual fishing trip and the opening day of deer season. Thanksgiving feasts were another highlight for him.
In his professional life, Adam was dedicated to Purdue University. He start as a teaching assistant and grew into his role as an educational technologist. Teaching was his passion, and he cared deeply for his colleagues.
Adam and Kay had a playful yet devoted bond. Once, Adam forgave Kay for surprising him with a goat without notice. He even took photos of the baby goats to share with his coworkers.
Just two days before he passed, Adam celebrated Anna’s admission to Purdue. His pride in her accomplishments was immense, and he looked forward to her future.
