Yovan Santiesteban runs the Eagle’s Nest in Bokeelia, where he aims to transform busy days into relaxed evenings with delicious food. For him, cooking isn’t just about feeding people; it’s about spreading joy. He is supported by his wife, Tammy Sager, who has a strong background in the food industry.
“Pine Islanders wanted a cozy spot to unwind with family and friends,” Tammy explains. That’s how the Eagle’s Nest came to be. Yovan, who loves preparing food, insists on freshness. He personally oversees the kitchen, ensuring every item, from bread to sauces, is homemade. “I want to know every dish we serve,” he says.
His passion means he’s constantly learning from his guests. “I’ve picked up many recipes for pizza,” he shares. He never wants anyone to leave the restaurant hungry. If a new dish gets requested, he’s eager to try it out. “You can only fit so much on a menu,” Tammy notes, highlighting her husband’s endless curiosity about cuisine.
Since opening in February 2023, they have seen regular customers return, drawn in by specialties like slow-roasted Cuban sandwiches and homemade bread. “It’s all about making people feel at home and well-fed,” Yovan adds. They aim not just to serve food but to foster community. “We want to give back to Pine Island,” Tammy emphasizes. Their goal is to strengthen local bonds.
A standout initiative at the Eagle’s Nest is the Feeding the Fish Program. “Anyone in need can come in and take a pre-paid meal from our board,” Tammy explains. This program highlights their commitment to the community.
The Eagle’s Nest is located at 10800 Stringfellow Road in Bokeelia. The restaurant operates Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4 PM to midnight, and Friday through Sunday from 11 AM to midnight. During the busy season, they are open Wednesday to Monday, only closing on Tuesdays.
In a world where dining often feels rushed, the Eagle’s Nest offers a refreshing break. Guests can enjoy a meal at their own pace while connecting with others. With a focus on wholesome food and community spirit, it’s clear why this restaurant is becoming a beloved local spot.
