Montgomery County is stepping up its recycling game! The Department of Environmental Protection just opened a new food scraps drop-off spot at the Pike Central Farm Market in North Bethesda. Starting April 25 and running through November 21, this location will be available on Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM.
This initiative is part of the County’s efforts for Earth Month, aiming to make recycling easier for everyone. With this new market, there are now five spots across the county where residents can drop off their food waste.
What can you recycle? The list includes food scraps, coffee grounds, dairy products, and even meat bones. Since the program launched in 2024, residents have already recycled over 193,000 pounds of food scraps! That’s no small feat.

- Bethesda Central Farmers Market: 7600 Arlington Road, Sundays, 9 AM – 1:30 PM.
- Derwood Market: 16501 Redland Road, Saturdays, 9 AM – 1 PM (May 3 – Oct 10).
- Downtown Silver Spring Market: 1 Veterans Plaza, Saturdays, 9 AM – 1 PM.
- Olney Farmers and Artists Market: MD 108 and Prince Philip Drive, Sundays, 9 AM – 1 PM.
