Rail travel between Gujarat and Rajasthan is about to get a lot faster. A new Vande Bharat Express will connect Asarwa and Udaipur City, marking Gujarat’s sixth Vande Bharat service. This new link is part of India’s growing semi-high-speed rail network.
The route from Ahmedabad’s Asarwa station to Udaipur has been busy for traders, students, and tourists alike. With this new service, travel time is set to decrease, offering a more enjoyable journey.
This train aims to strengthen regional connections between northern Gujarat and southern Rajasthan. It will benefit daily commuters, business travelers, and boost tourism in Udaipur, a city known for its historic charm and vibrant culture.
Recent trends show that train travel is becoming more popular. According to a survey by the Ministry of Railways, the number of passengers using trains for short-distance travel has increased by 20% over the past two years. This growth highlights the importance of efficient rail services for local economies.
The Vande Bharat train, featuring eight coaches, includes AC Chair Cars and Executive Chair Cars. Passengers can enjoy reclining seats, mobile charging points, bio-toilets, sliding doors, and CCTV for safety. These enhancements are part of Indian Railways’ effort to compete with road transport.
The inaugural run of Train No. 09663 is set for February 16, 2026. It will leave Udaipur City at 12:25 PM and arrive in Asarwa at 5:15 PM, making stops at Zawar, Dungarpur, and Himmatnagar. Regular services will start on February 18, with Train No. 26963 departing Udaipur City at 6:10 PM, arriving at Asarwa at 10:25 PM. The return train, No. 26964, will leave Asarwa at 5:45 PM and reach Udaipur City at 10:00 PM, running six days a week, excluding Tuesdays.
Booking for the Asarwa–Udaipur service will open on February 15 through the IRCTC website and reservation counters. Passengers can check schedules and coach information online.
With this route, Gujarat continues to expand its Vande Bharat network, reflecting ongoing investment in faster rail services across western India. For more information, you can visit [Indian Railways](https://indianrailways.gov.in).
In a world that is increasingly reliant on efficient transportation, such enhancements in rail travel are vital. As more people choose trains over cars, it could help reduce road congestion and lower pollution levels.
