WEST CHESTER TWP., Ohio — There’s been a surprising name change for the Voice of America Centre mall. When you search for it online, it now appears as the “Voice of Mexico Center.” However, the mall’s official website still lists its original name.
Located off Voice of America Drive in West Chester, the mall’s street name hasn’t changed and still reflects its former name. This confusion may stem from how Google updates information for businesses. They have a detailed process that requires businesses to verify name changes through various means.
For this verification, Google considers factors such as the type of business and its location. Once businesses submit their changes, Google reviews the information, which can take up to five business days. Unlike Wikipedia, where anyone can make edits quickly, Google’s process is more thorough.
Mid Atlantic Properties, which developed the Voice of America Centre, is aware of this new listing and is working to resolve the issue. The timing of the change comes shortly after an executive order from President Donald Trump regarding the naming of the Gulf of Mexico, although it’s unclear if there’s a connection.
